We also get a thematic Moment of Truth (which, sadly, isn’t better integrated in the plot), in which Mrs. Meanwhile, Woody finds out from one of Bonnie’s toys about Lotso’s tragic past-and that the daycare is not a safe place for Buzz and the rest of Woody’s friends. Midpoint: When Buzz tries to convince Lotso to reassign him and his friends to a more “age-appropriate” room, Lotso shows his true villainous colors by having Buzz returned to his factory settings and using him as a guard to keep the others locked in. Meanwhile, the true weight of the pinch point hits when Buzz and the others discover that the “Caterpillar Room” to which Lotso has assigned them belongs to rowdy toddlers who play too rough. This is really only a pinch in that it gets between Woody and his goal, but it does effectively turn his part of the plot. Woody promptly leaves, since he wants to go to college with Andy.įirst Pinch Point: Woody’s journey home goes awry and he’s picked up by the little neighbor girl Bonnie, who takes him home and plays with him. This is the “adventure world” of the Second Act, where they meet Lotso the head honcho bear and his sidekick Ken. Woody is the one adamantly “rejecting” this Call to Adventure as he insists Andy never meant to throw them away.įirst Plot Point: The toys-including Woody who got trapped in the van with them-arrive at Sunnyside. Buzz and the other toys decide that, since Andy obviously doesn’t want them anymore, they might as well jump in the “donate” box that’s going to Sunnyside. The main conflict in this story is going to turn out to be escaping from Sunnyside Daycare-but this is the event that incites that. Mom mistakenly thinks Andy means to throw the other toys away and puts them out to wait for the garbage truck. Whoopi Goldberg also voiced Shenzi in The Lion King franchise.Inciting Event: Andy-all grown up now-puts Woody in the box he’s taking to college and gets the other toys ready to store in the attic.Stretch appears to be based on the Wacky WallWalker toys from the 1980s.The next day, after Bonnie places her backpack in the rack, Stretch sneaks out from behind a lunchbox above Bonnie's backpack to place a letter from Ken to Woody, Buzz, and the toys living at Bonnie's house into the backpack to let them know that Sunnyside has become a happier place for everyone. She is also seen hanging out at a "beach party" in what has used to be "The Box" and later at a disco party in the Butterfly Room. She then quickly leaves the area, letting Andy's toys escape and leaving Lotso to his fate in the dumpster.ĭuring the closing credits, she is seen happily greeting a bunch of new toys that are donated to Sunnyside in a box that includes an Emperor Zurg action figure and uses her tentacles to lift them out of the box and lower them safely onto the floor. Eventually, Lotso is thrown into the dumpster by Big Baby, and Stretch is petrified and shocked at what has happened. After Lotso destroys Big Baby's old pendant, he angrily orders Stretch to push Woody and his friends into the dumpster, which Stretch is now reluctant to do. However, when Woody and Lotso have a heated argument about Daisy, Lotso's former owner, Stretch is seen to visibly cringe at Lotso's true demeanor being revealed. Later, she and her cohorts catch Woody and his friends trying to escape Sunnyside via the garbage chute, and prepares to push them into the dumpster should they not admit defeat. When Andy's toys first arrive at Sunnyside, she shakes hands with Hamm, Slinky, and Barbie. Stretch starts out as one of Lotso's minions, helping with the capture of Andy's toys with her tentacles (at one point, Jessie attempts to escape, but Stretch catches her and throws her in one of the cells). Stretch is a purple rubbery octopus toy at Sunnyside Daycare.
