That’s a lot of dollars.”The features and benefits in the new DeepSleep line can be clearly demonstrated, a key selling attribute in Simmons’ product launches, the company said. While the line is being previewed at market here, it will be launched at individual Simmons plants with dealer meetings later this month or early next month, Kozel said. The DeepSleep line offers three things that are hard to find in a mattress these days - durability, comfort and affordability, Simmons officials said. “Forty percent of sales in the industry are at $500 and below. The knit is offered at a new lower price point. The Deep Sleep line also incorporates a new fabric border and Simmons’ signature wave sewing pattern, which accentuates the thickness of the mattresses, according to Simmons.Kozel said the line offers more value than the previous DeepSleep line and will make Simmons a stronger competitor in the promotional bedding arena, one that generates substantial dollars.”It is critical that we be at these lower price points,” Kozel said. Damasks and knits are offered on the models. The $699 price point offers a choice of a Eurotop or a pillowtop. Firm and plush options are offered at $499, while a pillowtop is positioned at $599. “They want to advertise that price to get the customers in.”Kozel also said dealers want a one-stop shop, and said Simmons can meet their needs from promotional bedding to high-end models. The line starts with an extra-firm model at $299, then moves to a Eurotop model at $399. That provides durable support while creating a thicker mattress profile that is more aesthetically pleasing, Simmons said. With the higher coils, Simmons can build a thicker mattress without additional foam fill, according to the company.Anne Kozel, brand director for DeepSleep, said Simmons moved its starting price point from $399 to $299 retail with the new line, which is being previewed here at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.”Dealers have asked for $299,” she said. Retailers have been asking for that price point and say the line will help them promote Simmons at traffic-building price points, officials said at last week’s High Point Furniture Market. The DeepSleep models feature the new 336 Extra Tall open-coil unit by Leggett & Platt, which provides an additional inch in coil height at six and three-quarter inches. HIGH POINT - Simmons is stepping down to a new starting retail price point for its promotional DeepSleep line - $299 - and is stepping up to higher-profile mattresses in that line.
